I just saw the article Responding to Force Touch Events from JavaScript come across my Twitter stream. Being such a proprietary technology right now, I haven’t decided whether or not it’s worth implementing yet, but if I were to implement it, I can think of three ways to approach the problem off the top of my head:
- Go ahead and use it! Screw the users not on the latest beta of OS X!
- Browser sniff—gross.
- Feature detection of supported events.
You can probably guess which approach I would take since feature detection is an important concept of progressive enhancment.
