Today is the actual and celebrated birthday of two special souls.

The first is Mama Babe, née Ella Babe, who would have been 93. She was the mother of my father and passed away a little over four years ago. Even as dementia took over, she kept her sense of humor until the end.

The second is Simon, a mutt that arrived at Dad’s store nearly four years ago at a skinny 11 pounds. He’s the happiest dog and loves anything human.
