New Year's Resolution

Get Stuff Done

Yeah, I know that seems pretty vague, but it's a big one for me. So, I'll go ahead and expand on it a little bit.

While I was musing on possible resolutions at the turn of the year, I had thought that would be a good one for me. It seems as though I have a lot of unfinished work, and with a very light workload for this spring, it seemed like a good opportunity. However, this resolution didn't seem to stand out much from the more typical pledges to eat better, work out more, or getting more organized.

What did catch my attention was when I pulled the books that I have at some point started and never finished. And I'm not talking about textbooks, but books I have chosen for either personal growth, entertainment, or enlightenment. I currently have next to me a pile of eight books. That doesn't include the other five Harry Potters (I actually finished one of them), the two books I just ordered on Amazon.com, or any others that have been buried in boxes that don't come to mind.

Now, if we add the 15 books I just mentioned to any textbooks I'd like to review before my possible return to Purdue, the incomplete courses needing finished, my regular workload for SWOSU's webmaster, and the various other personal projects I'd like to do, I need to Get Stuff Done.

For your amusement, I'll categorize the eight books immediately to my left and the two that have been ordered:

  • Learning – 1
  • Entertainment – 2
  • Personal Growth – 3
  • Enlightenment/Inspiration – 4

There are seven HP books

There are seven HP books total. So does this mean you finished #2 or you just forgot one?

Did you get anything done today?

I've finished one, one is in

I've finished one, one is in my pile of books I've started and not yet finished, and the other five are in the box.
