Free MacBook Pro

So, I had a PowerBook G4 that I purchased in the summer 2005. It was a nice machine that served me well, but it started intermittently going to sleep. So I called up Apple tech support, and after they finally decided that it was probably a hardware problem, they had me ship it off for repair. On the 23rd of October I got an e-mail saying they were waiting for the part. OK. On November 4th I still hadn't heard anything different, so I called them. They told me that it should have been expedited, that they were going to go ahead and do that, and that they would call me within 24 hours to give me an ETA. The next day they called and said the part was on backorder until December 7th. December 7th?! So, they offered me a replacement product—a new MacBook Pro! It turns out the AppleCare Protection Plan really paid off.

So I figured I would just get the remainder of the warranty on the old machine on this one, but they actually gave me the option of transferring the warranty, or they'd give me a pro rata refund on the previous warranty and let me buy a new one for this machine.

Anyway, if you see me with a ridiculously large smile, it might be because of the new laptop. It might be because of something else....
